Bluetooth-Enabled Connectors Facilitate Predictive Maintenance

May 31, 2023
When combined with a tablet or smartphone, IMS Connector Systems' SmartMod-based connectors offer continuous measurement of temperature, humidity, voltage, and other parameters.

This article is part of our IMS 2023 coverage.

In its Booth 2318 at IMS 2023, IMS Connector Systems will debut its SmartMod technology, which brings intelligent networking with individualized data provision to predictive-maintenance applications. In combination with a smartphone or tablet, this standard M12-based connector is a suitable service tool for troubleshooting and machine maintenance.

SmartMod-equipped connectors enable continuous measurement of functions such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, voltage, current, and power. They can communicate with smartphones or tablets via a Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 link at a range of 40 meters indoors and 100 meters outdoors.

SmartMod connectors can be retrofitted to plants or machines with applications in robotics, factory automation, mobile machinery, storage and temperature logistics, and more. These devices are able to measure an absolute air-pressure range of 300 to 1,100 mbar, provide a high current capacity of ±15 A, and offer absolute humidity accuracy of 5% to 95%. They operate from 40 to +85°C and from a wide voltage range of 4 to 36 V.
