Contribute Content to Microwaves & RF

Here's how you can get started contributing technical articles to Microwaves & RF.

Microwaves & RF accepts contributed technically-oriented content that is of interest to our audience of high-frequency RF engineers, programmers, developers, and managers. Our readers are looking for articles that will inform and educate so delving deep into technical topics is just fine with us.

Our readers seek to solve problems, to improve their engineering know-how, and to learn about technology—whether it's today's state-of-the-art, what's emerging from the labs, or tried-and-true techniques and principles. If you've got something along those lines to share with them, they'll want to absorb it and put it to use.

Contributed technical content should be about the what, how, and why; it should not be a product pitch. You can send us press releases for product announcements, which we handle in a different fashion. Contributed technical articles should be as generic as possible. We'll allow passing references to particular products when descriptions of a technology or solution call for examples.

Getting Started

Our Contributors' Packet makes it easier to get a technical article posted on our site. The README file will get you oriented as to the contents of the packet. Articles must be submitted within the included article template; there's a separate document with instructions for its use. Likewise, you'll find a document describing how to prepare image files for publication. An important document within the packet is a publishing agreement that you must date, sign, and return to us with your first draft. All of the above isn't about making prospective authors jump through hoops—rather, it's a matter of providing us with material that we can work with efficiently and get your words and ideas out to our audience sooner rather than later.

Endeavor Contributor Packet

Once you've digested the Contributors' Packet, the next step is to submit an abstract or outline for your proposed article. Send us a proposed title and a paragraph or two describing what you want to cover and why you think our readers should be interested.

Because there's no editorial schedule for online content, deadlines are flexible. If the topic you propose to tackle is BIG, i.e., covering it well would mean a very long article, we'll discuss breaking it up into a multi-part series (we like those!). We look forward to posting your articles as they become available. We do ask for exclusivity, so please don't send us content that's been offered to or published on other sites.

Articles are posted as soon as possible, but some need more editing than others and we may also need to edit the art that is part of an article. This means an article will not be online immediately after it is received. It'll be at least a couple weeks or more before an article is posted. We will send you the URL of the article once it has been posted.

Sister Sites in Our Group

Microwaves & RF is just one of many B2B technology sites and associated print publications from Endeavor Business Media (EBM). All of these use the same guidelines and contributed article templates. We often cross-post articles to relevant sister sites, so an article may appear on more than one site. We're part of EBM's Design & Engineering Group, and our sister sites accept contributed content as well. If you've got an article that seems to fit another site better than Microwaves & RF, please contact the editors at the addresses below. Don't forget to send a brief abstract or outline if your article is still just an idea.
