Azimuth Systems, Inc.The Advanced Telecommunications Engineering Laboratory (TEL) at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln has selected the ACE 400WB channel emulator to perform a comprehensive mobile WiMAX technology study to investigate the performance and reliability of standardsbased wireless networking technologies for the North American railroad industry. The study is funded by the Federal Railroad Administration and will provide insight into the performance and feasibility of using 802.16e-2005 mobile WiMAX technology in enhancing current wireless networking infrastructure.
Richardson Electronics, Ltd.Has signed a global distribution agreement with HVVi Semiconductors, Inc., of Phoenix, AZ, to distribute its RF power transistors, based on HVVi's new HVVFET architecture. HVVi recently announced the first major advance in silicon RF power transistor design in more than 15 years. This new architecture delivers frequency bandwidth, voltage and power levels to radar and avionic applications with improved performancereducing overall part count and enhancing cost efficiencies.
Agilent Technologies, Inc.
Announced that Sequans, a provider of Mobile WiMAX silicon and reference designs, has awarded Agilent a contract for Mobile WiMAX Protocol Conformance Test (PCT). Sequans will use Agilent's N6430A Mobile WiMAX PCT system for pre-certification testing on its mobile station and base station reference designs.
Announced that Tatung InfoComm, a whollyowned subsidiary of a Taiwanese conglomerate, Tatung Co., has selected Alcatel-Lucent to deploy a commercial WiMAX 802.16e-2005 (Rev-e) network in Penghu County, Taiwan. For Tatung, which holds one of the commercial WiMAX licenses for Taiwan's southern regions, the deployment focuses on providing most of the wireless broadband data and voice services across 70% of the county's territory. Alcatel-Lucent will supply Tatung InfoComm with a comprehensive WiMAX infrastructure solution, encompassing a full range of WiMAX 802.16e-2005 radio access network equipment and core network elements, as well as deployment and project management expertise.
Elcom Technologies, Inc.
Has received two orders totaling $1 million dollars for Very High Frequency and Ultra High Frequency (VHF/UHF) receivers from an international defense customer. The Elcom SIR 3000 receiver series cover the frequency range of 20 MHz to 3000 MHz and IF output bandwidths of up to 80 MHz. It also provides state-of-theart RF DSP.

Tensolite, a division of Carlisle Companies, Inc.Has changed its name to Carlisle Interconnect Technologies. The name change comes on the heels of Tensolite's recent acquisition of Carlyle Inc., a manufacturer of custom wire and cable harnesses, rack and panels and cable assemblies for in-flight entertainment systems and specialty avionics applications. By combining staffs, technologies and products, Tensolite and Carlyle Inc. have created Carlisle Interconnect Technologies, a vertically integrated supplier of complete interconnect solutions. The strategic combination has strengthened commitment to customer service and delivering interconnect solutions.
ProVision Communications
Has relocated its UK headquarters to larger offices at 1 Portland Square, close to the heart of Bristol city center. The new facility is twice the size of the company's previous offices.
National Technical Systems, Inc.
Has completed its acquisition of Elliott Laboratories, Inc., a San Francisco Bay Area Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Product Safety and Wireless regulatory testing laboratory with two full-service facilities. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The addition of Elliott to the NTS organization creates one of the largest independent providers of EMC design, test and evaluation services in North America. NTS has eight EMC locations coast-to-coast, as well as provides EMC services from its laboratory in Munich, Germany.
Acceleware Corp.
Has announced a partnership with Vector Fields to accelerate microwave design by combining Vector Fields' Concerto automation software package with Acceleware's FDTD Accelerator solution. Vector Fields produces software for modeling and analyzing electromagnetic equipment and effects; Acceleware develops electromagnetic solver technology.
Keithley Instruments Inc.Announced a joint effort with Azimuth Systems for WiMAX, 4G, and Wi-Fi. Keithley is working with Azimuth Systems to deliver critical end-to-end MIMO RF test solutions to mobile handset manufacturers, infrastructure vendors, and service providers for next-generation LTE and WiMAX testing. The joint Keithley/Azimuth solution will consist of Keithley's 4x4 MIMO RF Test System and Azimuth's ACE 400WB channel emulator.
mWAVE Industries, LLC
The antenna design and manufacturing company has moved its operation to a newly constructed, larger more modern facility located adjacent to the mWAVE outdoor antenna test range located in the town of Windham, ME. This new facility provides mWAVE with the needed space to efficiently increase antenna production capacity and expand its antenna design capability into new antenna markets. NOMAD Digital
Has partnered with the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) to launch the first "free to all passengers" onboard Wi-Fi wireless broadband network on a US railroad. Nomad, who worked with local partner Wasatch Electric, provided its high-speed wireless broadband connection for the 12 double-decker trains on the new 40-mile FrontRunner commuter rail line between Ogden and Salt Lake City. In the couple of months since the railroad opened for business, the number of passengers using the Wi-Fi service has already risen rapidly from 300 per day at the start of May to 700 per day by early June. This is the first full-scale commercial rollout for Nomad Digital in the US.
