Test Platform Speeds Validation of CPU Compliance for PCIe
With an eye on reliable, high-speed I/O for future platforms, Anritsu said that its BERT Signal Quality Analyzer-R MP1900A helped AMD accelerate PCI Express (PCIe) specification electrical compliance testing for pre-production AMD EPYC CPUs.
The testing, which reached a maximum data rate of 64 GT/s, was performed under challenging backchannel conditions,. Also, insertion loss exceeded the specified 27 dB in the CEM specification. The stress conditions that were applied used spread-spectrum clocking.
The next-generation PCIe 6.0 technology provides a bandwidth of 64 GT/s per lane and up to 256 GB/s in a x16 configuration. It serves as a high-speed interface between devices like CPUs, GPUs, SSDs, and network cards.
