Wireless SoC Takes on Gesture Recognition

April 21, 2025
This advanced SoC offers multiprotocol wireless performance for battery-based, low-power smart-home applications.

The new xG26 family of Cortex-M33 wireless SoCs and MCUs from Silicon Labs consists of the multiprotocol MG26 SoC, the Bluetooth LE BG26 SoC, and the PG26 general-purpose MCU without wireless connectivity.

Possessing double the flash and RAM of the Silicon Labs xG24 devices, the xG26 family also comes with double the number of general-purpose input/output (GPIO) pins as the xG24; in combination with flash and memory, they reach up to 3,200 kB and 512 kB respectively. They also integrate a matrix vector processor (MVP) for AI/ML hardware acceleration and math functions.

The MG26 SoC integrates Matter over Wi-Fi and Matter over Thread, Bluetooth, and Zigbee. Its proprietary protocols are also supported for edge applications and machine-learning models. Multiprotocol support means that any device built around it can bring the smart-home experience to the next level. Moreover, the SoC can handle Zigbee and Matter over Thread concurrently.
