Dual-Channel Digital Isolators Foster Efficient, Reliable Signal Transmission
To support power-efficient, reliable signal transmission in industrial control and power-conversion systems, Toshiba Electronics Europe recently launched four dual-channel digital isolators to efficiently provide flexible signal isolation, with 0.2-mA current consumption and 3,000-V RMS minimum isolation. The lineup includes the DCL320C00 and DCL320D00, each configured with two forward channels, and the DCL321C00 and DCL321D00, which are configured with one forward channel and one reverse channel.
The DCL32xx00 digital isolator series addresses the need to reduce system power consumption while integrating isolation functionality. Typical operating current consumption is 0.2 mA per channel at a 1-Mb/s data rate, and it supports rates up to 25 Mb/s.
Leveraging Toshiba's magnetic-coupling isolation technology as well as new circuit technology in the isolation signal-transmission section, they support low-power, stable data transmission.
Each device is rated for a minimum isolation voltage of 3,000 V RMS for 60 seconds and offers 30-kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity in the presence of rapid common-mode voltage changes. The devices operate from –40 to 125°C, with a 2.25- to 5.5-V supply-voltage range that supports use with a variety of industrial logic and control circuits, in a SOIC8-N package for dual-channel isolation.
The four products in the DCL32xx00 series provide two channel-direction options. The DCL320C00 and DCL320D00 offer two forward channels for applications that require two digital signals to cross the isolation barrier in the same direction, while the DCL321C00 and DCL321D00 have one forward and one reverse channel for interfaces that require transmit and receive paths in opposite directions.
The C00 and D00 variants differ in their default output logic when the input is undefined, allowing designers to select either a default-low or default-high output state.
