Software Update Helps Network Operators Optimize Performance

ADRF's PowerSmart control for the ADXV Series DAS reduces power consumption up to 60%, maximizing performance while conserving energy.

Advanced RF Technologies offers network operators and enterprise customers the ability to precisely manage energy usage to lower operating costs and support sustainability initiatives with PowerSmart Control, a new software functionality for its flagship ADXV Series DAS. Reducing power consumption by up to 60%, its web-based graphical user interface enables precise management of energy usage without compromising network performance.

PowerSmart Control introduces intelligent, software-driven power optimization that dynamically adjusts DAS operation based on network needs, reducing unnecessary energy consumption during periods of lower demand. With this solution, customers can operate more efficiently while maintaining coverage and capacity. The new software functionality for the ADXV Series DAS achieves energy savings through three primary capabilities:

  • Power output adjustment: The output power of all remote units (RUs) can be adjusted using an automatic level control function.
  • RF band standby mode: RF bands can be shut down for any RUs according to a schedule, allowing individual frequency bands to be disabled when they're not needed.
  • MIMO to SISO switching: MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) configurations can be temporarily converted to SISO (single-input, single-output) for power reduction during lower traffic conditions.

Organizations are placing greater emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency, especially with the rapid adoption of AI driving higher power demands. PowerSmart Control empowers building owners and wireless operators to significantly lower energy consumption across DAS deployments.
