Wireless Gateways, Smart Antennas Augment Network Infrastructure

May 1, 2025
Emerson's upgraded dual WirelessHART portfolio maximizes connectivity.

Addressing the scalability, flexibility, range, and efficiency of wireless networking infrastructures, Emerson upgraded its Wireless 1410S Gateways and added a new 781S Smart Antenna design to its portfolio. These enhancements enable more optimal installation and operation, while minimizing the required network infrastructure.

By implementing a remote antenna adapter, users can improve signal strength with high-gain remote antenna compatibility, reducing the number of hops and repeaters needed in WirelessHART networks.

The 781S, with its high-gain remote antenna option, has everything needed for an enhanced WirelessHART network or to boost an existing one, with easy upgrade paths from legacy remote antenna systems. Ensuring that remote and obstructed areas of a site can be covered by a mesh network, these advances facilitate continuous monitoring and real-time WirelessHART functionality such as fast update rates and longer battery life.

System upgrades to the 1410S and 781S use a simple backup and restore process to ensure seamless migration of system settings, including network and host connections. Firmware enhancements to the Emerson Wireless 1410S Gateway increase its capacity to serve up to 500 devices per network with the 781S Smart Antenna.

A single 1410S Gateway can now connect with up to 1,000 devices. This significantly expands its connectivity capabilities, updating to the latest firmware and leveraging its High-Capacity Network Upgrade.

Features of the 781S Smart Antenna include an integrated terminal block and remote antenna adapter options for flexible cable customization to meet application needs and improve antenna performance.
