DoW Invests in Kymeta’s Ground Terminals for Satcom Links
Serving multiple branches of the U.S. Department of War (DoW), Kymeta has increasingly impressed military users with the performance and reliability of its multi-orbit flat-panel antennas. The firm received a recent DoW order worth $20 million for more than 100 Osprey u8 terminals with the antennas, together with multi-orbit connectivity services on its global Kymeta Broadband (KBB) network (see image above).
This represents one of several multi-million-dollar contracts with other departments of the DoW for Kymeta’s satellite-communications (satcom) systems.
The company’s low size, weight, and power (SWaP) equipment supports both geosynchronous (GEO) and low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satcom networks using both GEO and LEO satellite orbits. The terminals are capable of seamlessly switching between transmission security (TRANSEC) and non-TRANSEC networks, delivering reliable, battle-tested performance even under hostile environmental conditions.
The terminals provide military users with a flexible approach to satcom connectivity, following a primary, alternate, contingency, and emergency (PACE) communications approach. Automatic switching eliminates the need for manual switching among communications options.
The most recent contract raises the total orders to a single DoW branch to more than $30,000,000 for satcom terminals and connectivity services.
Regarding the order, Manny Mora, CEO of Kymeta, noted, “This order is an affirmation from the military community that Kymeta can deliver on its promise to provide dependable connectivity for mission-critical operations.”
