Updated Software Delivers Turbomachinery Protection and Asset Health Monitoring

Emerson AMS 6500 ATG version 5.0 and AMS Machine Works version 2.4 software enable continuous data streaming for deeper startup and shutdown analytics.

To enhance turbomachinery protection and monitoring, Emerson updated both its AMS 6500 ATG online protection system with embedded prediction and its AMS Machine Works asset health monitoring software. The new features in both systems were designed in parallel to improve analytics for critical turbomachinery, especially complex, high-stakes activities such as machinery startups and shutdowns.

The AMS 6500 ATG version 5.0 and the AMS Machine Works version 2.4 software can now better support continuous, unlimited machine data transmission from the protection system into the analytics platform to better understand what's happening during complex activities. That's in addition to more comprehensive analysis and long-term trending in AMS Machine Works.

These enhancements to the AMS 6500 ATG and the AMS Machine Works software provide greater visibility into assets and operations, providing longer and more frequent data to more effectively trend streamed information. The trends can be tied directly to alarms, and operators can see live data illustrating what's happening in machines connected to the system. The enhancements also provide Modbus-independent connectivity for simplified management.

The AMS 6500 ATG now has a web-server-based programmable dashboard to provide visualization of critical turbomachinery performance, and can show up to five programmable dashboard pages, each with up to 25 widgets. This includes trending, Boolean alarm value screens, and live measurement fields. It can also display machine components and data points to provide a general understanding of the health of assets from a single view.
