OCXOs Tout Ultra-Low Noise and Jitter Over Wide Frequency Ranges
Q-Tech released the AXIOM line of ultra-low-noise (ULN) oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OXCOs) from its German affiliate, AXTAL. The AXIOM ULN OCXOs' ultra-low phase noise (close-in and noise floor) offers higher resolution for radar and communications systems, with improved accuracy and lower measurement limits for RF measurement systems.
Customizable to achieve near-ideal multiplication, and through the use of various noise-cancellation techniques, the OXCOs can transfer noise levels up to the GHz range. They also reduce jitter, with RMS jitter values of less than 50 fs for integration ranges of 10 Hz ~ 30 MHz.
The AXTAL line comprises 16 devices, including the AXIOM75ULN and AXIOM5050ULN (80 to 160 MHz) and the multiple-output AXIOM2700 (50 MHz to 7.0 GHz). Offering exceptional phase noise at lower frequencies (non-multiplied), the AXIOM ULN OCXOs can obtain levels of less than –140 dBc/Hz at 100-Hz offset with a noise floor down to –185 dBc/Hz.
By enabling the creation of fully customizable modules using frequency multiplication and/or phase-locked-loop (PLL) techniques, the ULN OCXOs maximize design flexibility and performance.
