Attenuators Hold Constant Phase

June 19, 2013
A line of 8-b digitally controlled PIN diode attenuators provides fast switching of attenuation across wide frequency ranges of 2 to 6 GHz and 6 to 18 GHz.

A line of high-speed, PIN diode attenuators from Rodelco Electronics can control amplitude levels over wide frequency ranges with minimal impact on the phase response across those frequency ranges. Essential for a variety of military systems, such as phased-array radars, that rely on maintaining predictable and consistent phase performance, these phase-constant attenuators are available with attenuation ranges in excess of 36 dB. They can be specified for frequency ranges of 2 to 6 GHz as well as for 6 to 18 GHz, and can achieve switching speeds from one attenuation state to another in less than 1 μs using 8-b digital control.
