Malaga, Spain-based AT4 wireless (www.at4wireless.com) continuously expands its capabilities to provide test solutions for the latest wireless-communications technologies. It is therefore not surprising that Agilent Technologies (www.agilent.com) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of the firm’s Test Systems business. With that wireless test portfolio, Agilent plans to offer its customers an even broader set of test solutions—especially in the rapidly growing Long Term Evolution (LTE) market. In addition, the acquisition will expand Agilent’s wireless test footprint by adding near-field-communications (NFC)/RF-identification (RFID) and Bluetooth test solutions for both conformance and research and development.
The Test Systems business of the privately held AT4 wireless combines the experience of 17 years of certification-testing activities with advanced system designs and architectures. Its test platforms are widely used in the industry by customers ranging from test houses to chipset manufacturers. The business includes 130 employees in Malaga, who will transfer to Agilent when the acquisition is final. AT4 wireless’ other businesses—Testing & Certification Services and IT Services & Solutions—are not part of the pending acquisition by Agilent. The acquisition is expected to be completed this month. Financial details were not disclosed.
