Surveillance Satellite Resolves Down to 25 cm

The EROS NOVA satellite provides centimeter-resolution imaging from space for surveillance and intelligence.

ImageSat International (ISI) has taken a large step toward resolving centimeter-resolution images from space with the development of its latest surveillance satellite. The earth-observation satellite (EROS) NOVA is a very-very-high-resolution (VVHR) system that combines advanced imaging with onboard artificial intelligence (AI) and extensive video collection capabilities to serve evolving defense and intelligence requirements.

The EROS NOVA satellite (see image above) is designed to provide short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) imaging resolution as fine as 25 cm and combines visible and IR imaging capabilities in support of defense and intelligence analysis from space. The satellite complements a growing family of advanced Earth observation platforms from ISI, including its RUNNER and KNIGHT platforms.

The CEO of ISI (Yehuda, Israel), Noam Segal, explained, “EROS NOVA represents the next generation of space-based intelligence, bringing together advanced imaging, multiple sensing capabilities, and onboard intelligence in a single satellite platform.”

He added, “It is designed to help intelligence organizations extract greater value from every collection and respond more rapidly to evolving operational needs, providing greater flexibility and a faster path from satellite collection to operational insight.”
