APCO 2013 Demo Links Public-Safety Officials in Real Time

Aug. 13, 2013
At APCO 2013, Mutualink will demonstrate resource collaboration over a secure LTE Band 14 communication network.

To provide effective public-safety communications solutions, providers are increasingly looking to leverage commercial technologies. During APCO 2013 (running from August 19 to 20 in Anaheim, CA), for example, Mutualink, Inc. plans to showcase the capabilities of public-safety officials in multiple US locations using a live LTE Band 14 communication network for real-time multimedia collaboration.

At the heart of this system is Mutualink’s IP-based interoperability platform and Alcatel-Lucent’s public-safety LTE network solution.

The LTE Band 14 network operates at 700 MHz and is used solely for private first-responder situations. The demonstration is a part of the Mutualink Interoperable Response and Preparedness Platform (IRAPP), which connects responders with Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR) like hospitals and utilities. The exhibition will link officials in New Jersey, Northern California, and Las Vegas in order to collaborate and share resources, such as multimedia, video, and voice data in real time. Push-to-talk interoperability between radios, telephones, desktops, and smartphones will also be demonstrated.
