Directional Couplers Extend To 40 GHz

Jan. 9, 2013
Two stripline connectors with two sizes of SMA connectors can each operate with flat coupling from 2 to 40 GHz.

A pair of stripline directional couplers from Krytar—models 102040020 and 102040020K—provide broad frequency coverage from 2 to 40 GHz with 2.4- and 2.9-mm female SMA connectors, respectively. Suitable for commercial wireless and military electronic-warfare (EW) applications, the directional couplers exhibit nominal coupling of 10 dB with ±1 dB coupling flatness and frequency sensitivity of ±0.7 dB. The directivity is better than 15 dB to 20 GHz and better than 11 dB to 40 GHz. Insertion loss is less than 1.2 dB to 20 GHz and less than 1.8 dB to 40 GHz. The maximum VSWR is 1.50:1 through 20 GHz and 1.70:1 through 40 GHz. Both couplers are rated for 20 W average power and 3 kW peak power. They both measure 1.75 x 0.40 x 0.65 in. and weigh 1.2 oz. They are designed for operating temperatures from -54 to +85°C.
