A 2-GHz linear power amplifier (PA) dubbed the RF5602 was designed for medium-power systems including customer premise equipment (CPE) and access-point (AP) applications for WiFi and WiMAX. The PA boasts 2 percent error vector magnitude (EVM) at +26 dBm output power and +5.0 VDC, 2 percent EVM at +25 dBm output power and +4.2 VDC, and 3 percent EVM at +23.5 dBm output power and +3.3 VDC. It operates from a +3.3-to-+5.0-VDC supply. The RF5602 offers 32 to 34 dB of small-signal gain. An input power detector is integrated on the die. Manufactured using the company's advanced Indium Gallium Phosphide (InGaP) heterojunction-bipolar-transistor (HBT) process technology, the RF5602 is optimized for use as the final RF amplifier in IEEE 802.16e/d and 802.11b/g/n applications. It also is suitable for 2.4-GHz ISM-band applications, PCS communications systems, and WiBro 2.3-to-2.4-GHz applications.
