Even after extensive flexing and thermal cycling, the UTiFLEX cables supposedly exhibit insertion loss of 0.11 dB/ft. at 1 GHz and 0.68 dB/ft. at 40 GHz. The 50-Ω UFC cables are double shielded, guaranteeing at least -90 dB RF shielding. They have a center-conductor diameter of 0.0403 in. with a dielectric diameter of 0.109 in. The diameter of the inner shield is 0.117 in. while the jacket diameter is 0.142 (0.005) in. The cable's unique construction incorporates an expanded-polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) dielectric and silver-plated helical-foil inner shield. The internal copper conductors are silver plated with a minimum of 100 inchesunlike MIL-DTL-17 cables, which only require 40 inches. The extra plating provides protection against galvanic corrosion. The latest UTiFLEX cable family, dubbed UFC, has been fully qualified and designed to be completely interchangeable with its UFB predecessorboth of which sport a frequency range of DC to 40 GHz. Micro-Coax will be phasing out the UFB142A cable over the next 12 months.
