Transportable Satcom Terminals Boost High-Throughput Communications
Gilat Satellite Network Ltd. (Petah Tikva, Israel) has been recruited by the U.S. Army to strengthen its portable satellite communications (satcom) capabilities. Working through a prime contractor, the company has received more than $7 million in orders for transportable satcom terminals of its subsidiary, Gilat DataPath. The transportable satcom terminals enable Army troops to reposition satcom systems in the field as needed.
The orders include the firm’s DKET 3421 transportable satcom terminals along with associated support service. Deliveries are expected by the end of 2025. The rugged, multiple-carrier terminals (see image above) handle as many as 32 satellite modems each with high-throughput wireless connectivity.
Nicole Robinson, president of Gilat DataPath, said, “We are proud to deliver a solution that has repeatedly demonstrated its value in the field, and to continue supporting the Army’s mission-critical communications needs.”
She added, “This latest award reflects the U.S. Army’s continued confidence in our DKET technology as a vital enabler of secure and relocatable satcom infrastructure for our men and women in uniform.”
