USB Dongle Reference Designs Enable Wi-Fi HaLow Connectivity
To bring edge functionality to AI-driven applications, Morse Micro released two reference designs that provide long-range Wi-Fi HaLow connectivity via a USB connection. Leveraging the company's MM8108 SoC, the dongles will allow developers to offer native IP connectivity at ranges up to 1 km.
The MM8108-RD09 Reference Design includes OpenWRT drivers to enable Wi-Fi HaLow functionality on existing routers and APs with a USB interface. For client devices, native Windows and Linux drivers are available, as well as a MacOS application.
With the MM8108-RD17 Reference Design, Wi-Fi HaLow can be integrated into a wider range of client products without the need for drivers to be installed on the host. When plugged in, it appears as a standard CDC-NCM Ethernet interface, and devices are able to be authenticated via Wi-Fi Easy Connect (DPP) using a pairing button.
