L3Harris Delivers Meadowlands EW System to U.S. Space Force for Space-Based Communications Protection
As part of preparing the U.S. Space Force Combat Forces Command's Mission Delta 3 – Space Electromagnetic Warfare unit, L3Harris Technologies recently delivered the first Meadowlands electronic warfare (EW) system to provide communications protection for space-based operations. The ground-based EW system provides advanced jamming technology capable of disrupting enemy communications. As Ed Zoiss, President, Space and Airborne Systems, L3Harris noted: “L3Harris remains committed to pushing the boundaries of space technology and innovation. The successful delivery of the Meadowlands Counter Communications System (CCS) production unit reflects our dedication to the Space Force’s mission to protect our nation's interests in space.”
The Meadowlands system (see figure) is a compact version of the company’s standard CCS. It leverages ground-based radio-communications equipment to disrupt the use of satellite-communications (satcom) systems on the battlefield. The versatile system can be mounted on a wheeled trailer for straightforward transport and repositioning as needed to evade counter-jamming efforts.
