Armored vehicles are growing smarter and adopting secure communications systems in Israel and Europe. Smart-armored-vehicle supplier Plasan has selected Real-Time Innovations (RTI) Connext DDS as the connectivity framework for its smart armored vehicles for military and paramilitary applications. Plasan will become the first company to offer NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA) capabilities in Israel and one of the first companies to offer NGVA smart-armored-vehicle capabilities in Europe. Integration of RTI’s Connext DDS Professional software and technology into the armored vehicles provides the advanced, secure communications technology in support of both newer and older armored vehicles.

The secure communications technology, in the form of the RTI Connext DDS Professional software, provides reliable connectivity for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices and systems. The software enables low-latency, high-reliability, scalable and secure communications for mission-critical systems. Delays are typically less than 50 µs for Gigabit Ethernet connections. In addition, the Connext Databus reduces communications system development, integration, and maintenance costs within these armored vehicles.
