BTC Electronic Components (BTC)The company's EN2997 Y and YE hermetically sealed receptacles have received ASD-CERT recertification. ASD-CERT qualifies standard aerospace products in accordance with the requirements of EN 9133 (formerly EN 3042).
Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA)Has announced the formation of the Capital Lite Working Group. This group has been tasked with helping new semiconductor start-ups reduce costs, raise equity financing, and improve their chances of success by providing new business models, partnerships, and tools.
Equatorial GuineaHas launched Guinea Ecuatorial Comunicaciones Sociedad Anonima (GECOMSA), the third-largest mobile-phone and Internet company in Equatorial Guinea. GECOMSA is a joint venture between the country's government (which has a 51% stake) and China (with 49%).
National Technical Systems (NTS)Has signed an agreement with RF Exposure Lab to provide RF safety testing services at NTS' Silicon Valley, CA test laboratories. Under the agreement, RF Exposure Lab will provide the necessary test equipment and technical training.
Redpine SignalsHas signed an agreement with California Eastern Laboratories (CEL) to extend Redpine's market reach. Under this agreement, CEL will provide sales and technical support for Redpine's IEEE 802.11n/ac wireless chipsets and modules.
Altair SemiconductorThe company's FourGee-3100/6200 chipset has successfully completed Band 14 interoperability testing with Alcatel-Lucent infrastructure. The 700-MHz Band 14 spectrum has been allocated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for public-safety broadband use in the US.
LitePointHas expanded its operations in Shanghai, China with the opening of a new facility. The Shanghai office joins LitePoint's other Asian operations in Shenzhen, China; Taipei, Taiwan; and Tokyo, Japan.
MicrosemiThe company's RF Integrated Solutions (RFIS) facility in Folsom, CA has achieved AS9100:2009 Rev C certification. The AS9100 standard includes an increased focus on program and risk management, intensive supply-chain-management controls, and facility-wide continuous-improvement activities.
Testronic LabsHas been selected by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) as its Qi interoperability testing center. The center performs functional interoperability tests with those products on behalf of the WPC. It also keeps a library of all Qi-certified products.
Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI) ConsortiumHas announced the addition of two new members: IOGEAR and IDX Technology. The companies join WHDI Consortium founders AMIMON, Hitachi, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and LG Electronics in addition to other adopters of the WHDI standard.
DSP GroupHas been awarded the Wi-Fi Alliance's Wi-Fi CERTIFIED seal of approval for its XpandR III multimedia reference design. The certification recognizes the reference design's compliance with IEEE radio standards 802.11b/g/n.
TriQuint SemiconductorHas begun work on Phase II of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) multi-year, Nitride Electronic NeXt-Generation Technology (NEXT) program. TriQuint, a prime contractor, has so far received $12.67 million in support of the NEXT contract. Phase II is contracted to last 18 months.
