Wireless technology changes almost daily, with a large number of worldwide standards constantly being refined for improved spectral efficiency. Keeping track of the latest developments in wireless communications technologies can be a daunting task, but one that can be managed with the help of such reference works as the 272-page A Guide to the Wireless Engineering Body of Knowledge (WEBOK) from the IEEE Communications Society. It was developed as an educational resource for the organization's Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies (IEEE WCET) Certification Program, and to help industry professionals in need of information and best practices on the evolution of wireless technologies. Celia Desmond, the IEEE WCET Program Director, explains that "this guide represents the cumulative efforts of the IEEE Communications Society and an international body of wireless industry professionals. We believe the WEBOK will become an indispensable resource for everyone involved in the wireless industry, no matter their level or area of expertise." The guide is published by Wiley and contains the contributions of more than 50 selected international wireless communications experts. It includes information on wireless access technologies, network and service architectures, network management and security, RF engineering, facilities infrastructure, regulations and standards, and wireless engineering fundamentals.
