DESIGNERS CONCERNED with LTE and LTE-Advanced found their time was well spent at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC). The event was dominated by new products at all levelsfrom device through modeling and testand even included some first-time exhibitors.

Making its debut appearance at MWC was Agilent Technologies' LTE-Advanced signal-generation and analysis solutions. The Signal Studio and 89600B Vector Signal Analysis (VSA) software for LTE-Advanced supports the generation and analysis of frequency-division-duplex (FDD) and time-division-duplex (TDD) signals, which are compliant with the 3GPP Release 10 standard.

Engineers can use these systems to test physical-layer implementations of LTE-Advanced devices to dig deeper into possible causes of design problems. Key features include:

FDD and TDD per 3GPP Release 10 for both uplink and downlink signal configurations
Carrier aggregation for both contiguous and non-contiguous component carrier configurations at I/Q bandwidths to 100 MHz
Independent setup parameters for each component carrier, including any LTE-Advanced specified bandwidth or modulation type
Simultaneous analysis of up to five component carriers
Enhanced uplink-clustered SC-FDMA and simultaneous control and data channel (PUCCH and PUSCH) support

Agilent's Signal Studio software for LTE-Advanced signal creation is available now for 3GPP LTE FDD (N7624B) and 3GPP LTE TDD (N7625B). Access to the Agilent 89600B VSA LTE-Advanced option is available by enrolling in Agilent's Early Access Program.
