A report from market research specialist ABI Research projects that sales in cellular modems will exceed 200 million units by 2013. The report, "Cellular Modems and Mobile Broadband Connectivity," notes that 2007 sales increased by more than 300 percent over 2006 sales, with the majority of worldwide sales controlled by Asia-Pacific manufacturers. The report analyzes the factors both driving and inhibiting growth and how changes in the market are creating both opportunity and complexity for the value chain participant. It provides comprehensive market share and forecast information for modem supplier, distribution channel and customer type. Forecasts are provided for each of five different form factors by worldwide region, technology standard and air interface, and average selling price.
