LPKF Laser & Electronics AGHas opened two new sales and service branches in Asiaone each in China and Japan. The company's new Shanghai branch office is its seventh in China, while LPKF Japan K.K. is based out of Yokohama. In addition, LPKF has transferred its stake in its French subsidiary to local management. LPKF Germany will take over the sale and marketing of laser systems in France and the Benelux countries.
Hittite Microwave Corp.
Has acquired Arctic Silicon Devices, a Trondheim, Norway- based developer of mixed-signal integrated-circuit (IC) technology. The acquisition price was approximately $12 million in cash and equity. The employees of Arctic Silicon Devices will continue to work at their existing facility.
Digi-Key Corp. and ITT Cannon
Have entered into an agreement whereby Digi-Key will distribute ITT Cannon products to customers worldwide. Products from ITT Cannon are now available for purchase on Digi-Key's global websites and will be featured in future print and online catalogs.
Tektronix Component Solutions
Has announced that its application-specificintegrated- circuit (ASIC) design and custom-IC packaging services have been validated by IBM Corp. They are "Ready for IBM Technology" on silicon-germanium (SiGe) 5HP, 7HP, 7WL, and 8HP process technologies. The Ready for IBM Technology program is a collaborative ecosystem of companies that enables IBM to complement its semiconductor capabilities and provide complete foundry solutions to clients.
The Energy Telecommunications and Electrical Association (ENTELEC)
Has announced the formation of a new Regulatory Committee to address pressing regulatory developments of interest to ENTELEC's membership. The committee will be co-chaired by Tom Frobase, Boardwalk Pipeline Partners LP, and Bill Carter, El Paso Corp.
Raytheon Co.
Has announced plans to open a Public Safety Regional Technology Center (RTC) in Los Angeles County, CA, this summer. It is in the final stages of selecting a specific location with about 25,000 sq. ft. of space. The Raytheon Public Safety RTC will serve as the focus of the company's civil-communications business in the western US.
RFMW Ltd.
Has announced the opening of direct sales and distribution offices in Europe. These offices will allow RFMW to introduce its suppliers' products into RF/microwave design centers and OEMs located in Europe. RFMW also will be able to support the supply chain to contract-manufacturing locations incountry or worldwide.
Temex-Ceramics and Modelithics
Have partnered to provide S-parameter data on Temex-Ceramics' CLX (2225) and CLE (4040) HiQ power capacitors. Measured broadband, 0.04-to-2.00-GHz data was acquired using series and shuntmount fixtures. The data is available for free download at www.modelithics.com.
