WiMAX technology broke the 20-million global subscriber mark at the end of the second quarter of this year, reports Infonetics Research. In the first quarter of 2011, the total worldwide sales of WiMAX equipment reached US $502.1 millionup 49% from the first quarter of 2010. This year, WiMAX equipment alone is expected to be a $2-billion industry in the US.
