Herley Industries, Inc.—Announced that it has received $2.6 million in contract awards from a major US defense company to design and manufacture phase shifters and other microwave assemblies for the F-16 aircraft upgrade program.

Herley Industries also announced that its Herley Farmingdale subsidiary has received contract awards totaling $2.0 million from a major US defense contractor to manufacture complex integrated microwave assemblies.

Savi Technology—Has been selected by the US National Guard to provide highly mobile RF identification (RFID) systems that will improve real-time tracking of supplies at National Guard Armories and for deployed operations. Savi Technology's Portable Development Kits (PDKs) will enable Guard units throughout the US and its territories to better locate, track, and manage RFID-tagged supplies and equipment in real time.

Under the initial contracts, valued at $4.6 million, Savi Technology will provide each state's Joint Force Headquarters, as well as National Guard units in the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, with PDK units and related equipment. The initial contracts include orders for 54 PDKs, 5400 active RFID tags, and 120 mobile handheld repeaters, in addition to associated training for National Guard logisticians nationwide. Mission applications include disaster relief, homeland security, and other emergency efforts.

WFI—Has been awarded a multimillion-dollar contract to continue providing its services and expertise in the areas of 2G and 3G network design and optimization services for O2, a provider of mobile services in the United Kingdom. Work under the contract extension is already underway and will continue into 2007.

Keithley Instruments—The Evaluation Committee of the IEEE Joseph F. Keithley Award in Instrumentation & Measurement is asking for nominations and suggestions for nominations from colleagues in the Instrumentation and Measurements community at large.

The IEEE Joseph F. Keithley Award in Instrumentation & Measurement (www.ieee.org/portal/pages/about/awards/sums/ keithley.html), sponsored by Keithley Instruments, was established in 2001. The award will be presented for outstanding contributions in electrical measurements. It may be presented to an individual or a team of not more than three. The award consists of a bronze medal, certificate, and honorarium. In the evaluation process, the following criteria are considered: innovation or development, social value, uniqueness of concept, other technical accomplishment, and the quality of the nomination.

Res-net Microwave, Inc.—Has been certified to ISO 9001:2000 by QMI. Res-net Microwave manufactures attenuators, resistors, and terminations for the microwave and RF markets.

VCom, Inc.—Has announced, as an update to its September 29, 2006 disclosure, that it has completed the purchase of the additional assets associated with the sales and marketing components of Wave Wireless Corp.'s 900-MHz business. Under the finalized terms of the agreement, VCom now owns the operational assets associated with the 900-MHz business of Wave Wireless' wholly owned subsidiary, WaveRider Communications, Inc. VCom's geographic presence has grown with new offices in Toronto and Calgary as a result of the agreement. The spaces will continue to serve as R&D, marketing, and sales hubs for the acquired 900-MHz business, but additionally, will be strategically coupled with sales and technical support for VCom's wireless business.

Spectrum Control, Inc.—Announced the acquisition of JDK/USA.
JDK, based in Grass Valley, CA, designs and manufactures co-molded plastic potentiometers and assemblies.

Parker Hannifin Corp.—Acquired the Tecknit Division Of Technical Wire Products, LLC and its affiliates, a global provider of electromagnetic-interference (EMI) shielding products. Revenues of the acquired business totaled approximately $18.3 million in 2005. Earnings are expected to be accretive to Parker in the first full year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Electronic Technologies International (ETI)—Announced the award of ISO 9001:2000 Certification for their wireless-harness and box-build divisions. ETI has been in compliance with ISO 9001:2000 standards since 1994 for their printed-circuit-board division.

Kulicke & Soffa Industries, Inc.—Has signed an agreement to acquire Alphasem, a supplier of die-bonder equipment, from Dover Technologies International, Inc., a subsidiary of Dover Corp. The purchase price is $30 million, subject to a working capital adjustment. The acquisition was expected to close this month and is subject to customary closing conditions.

IMS Connector Systems and Telegärtner Karl Gärtner GmbH—Have signed a QLS license agreement, which includes the development, production, and distribution of QLS connectors. In the future, IMS Connector Systems and Telegärtner will present themselves as "Partner of the QLS Alliance." The "QLS Alliance" indicates that all QLS connectors which are offered by the partners of the alliance are fully compatible.

Symmetricom, Inc.—Announced the acquisition of Timing Solutions Corp., a privately held company based in Boulder, CO that provides time and frequency products and services for the government, aerospace, and military markets. Under the terms of the agreement, Symmetricom paid approximately $8.0 million in cash.

Radio Waves, Inc.—Announced that they will be offering Radio Waves HP6 antennas manufactured at their UK facility. Until now, the largest antennas Radio Waves manufactured in their UK facility was HP4 and SP6 style antennas.
