Wideband VCO Tunes 2700 To 5400 MHz

April 30, 2013
A low-noise oscillator delivers robust +7 dBm output power from 2700 to 5400 MHz.

Model V600ME31-LF is a broadband, low-noise voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that is ideal for satellite-communications (satcom) applications. It tunes from 2700 to 5400 MHz by means of tuning voltages from 0 to 24 VDC. The oscillator exhibits average tuning sensitivity of 140 MHz/V and typical phase noise of -107 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier. It can produce typical output power of +7 dBm into a 50-Ω load while operating from a +5-VDC supply and drawing a mere 25 mA current. Harmonic suppression is excellent, at better than -20 dBc, and the VCO can handle operating temperatures from -40 to +85°C. It is supplied in the company’s standard MINI-16-LOW package, which measures just 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.16 in.
