VCO Drops Phase Noise at 1050 MHz

Dec. 19, 2014
A low noise VCO tunes from 850 to 1050 MHz.

Developed for applications requiring excellent spectral purity, model V590ME09-LF is a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that tunes from 850 to 1050 MHz by means of 0.5 to 5.0 V. It delivers +5.5-dBm output power into a 50-Ω load with average tuning gain of 63 MHz/V/ The phase noise is controlled to a low -100 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier with second-harmonic suppression of -13 dBc, all the while drawing just 15 mA current from a +5-VDC supply. The RoHS-compliant VCO is designed for operating temperatures of -20 to +70°C and is supplied in the firm’s standard MINI-14S package measuring 0.5 × 0.5 × 0.22 in. The oscillator is available in tape-and-reel packaging for high-volume production.
