RF Regulatory Test System Covers 5G NR Compliance

March 4, 2021
Cost-efficient, easy-to-use ME7803NR system supports certified North American, European, and Asian 5G NR bands.

As the 5G rollout picks up speed, regulatory test capabilities grow steadily in importance as a factor in deployment of commercial network services. To meet those test needs, Anritsu has launched its ME7803NR RF regulatory test system solution for regulatory compliance testing of 5G systems. Integrating the MT8000A radio communication test station  with other hardware and dedicated software, the ME7803NR is a cost-efficient, easy-to-use means of conducting ARIB/ETSI/FCC-compliant frequency range (FR) 1 RF tests on 5G New Radio (NR) user equipment.

The ME7803NR supports certified North American, European, and Asian bands. It also supports emerging regional bands planned for deployment, including 5G NR bands and 5G Non-Standalone (NSA)-mode LTE bands used as LTE anchors.

At the core of the ME7803NR test system is the MT8000A test station, which simulates a 5G NR base station. The system also integrates the MT8821C radio communication analyzer operating as an LTE anchor, as well as a combination of the MS2840A/MS2850A spectrum analyzers/signal analyzers, MG3710E vector signal generator, and MG3694C signal generator.

The ME7803NR RF regulatory test system supports all major FR1 RF regulatory compliance tests of 5G NR user equipment. SAR/OTA/EMC tests also can be conducted using the MT8000A and MT8821C. Measurements are conducted using 5G NR NSA mode call connections. Additionally, the platform can perform spurious and interference tests efficiently and accurately, filling a test void for many companies. A built-in calibration function seamlessly changes the connection configuration, for improved measurement stability and measured value reliability.

Measurement efficiency and quality of 5G terminals are assured by the system’s easy-to-operate GUI. In addition to evaluating RF performance of 5G user equipment to ensure compliance with leading regulatory requirements, the ME7803NR easily determines if radio waves are being used efficiently.

The ME7803NR RF regulatory test system brings cost benefits and flexibility to 5G NR user equipment regulatory testing. By easily integrating the MT8000A, MT8821C, and other existing equipment, the system maximizes current test investments and minimizes additional expenses.

I am Executive Editor of Microwaves & RF, an all-digital publication that broadly covers all aspects of wireless communications. More particularly, we're keeping a close eye on technologies in the consumer-oriented 5G, 6G, IoT, M2M, and V2X markets, in which much of the wireless market's growth will occur in this decade and beyond. I work with a great team of editors to provide engineers, developers, and technical managers with interesting and useful articles and videos on a regular basis.
