From April 1st, 2021 @Microwaves & RF

Has it been a dismal year or what? On balance, it has been for me. Being here at Microwaves & RF since late January of 2020 has been about the brightest spot I can think of. Aside from that, things pretty much went downhill. I am grateful that no one in my family contracted COVID-19 (that we know of, at least), and my wife and I have now both been fully vaccinated (here's hoping that as many of you who want to be vaccinated can do so ASAP). But we did confront other health issues over the past year, and we do have friends and acquaintances who became quite ill from the virus. So I don't know about you, but I'm ready for a bit of a diversion. And along comes April Fools' Day, just in time.

Last year, we put on our fools' caps in much the same fashion; a number of you out there seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. And now, we're back with more, uh, highly unlikely technical developments. A wise man once sang about how "... nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about." Well, what you're about to peruse isn't real, we admit it, but we had fun coming up with it. And it's all in good fun, so please, no poison-pen letters about how nuts it would be to round down Pi to 3.00. Just go with the flow... there's nothing to get hung about, honest.

Do you have some fun technical-fiction ideas you want to share? Add a comment at the end of the article, drop us an email, or see "What's Your Best April 1st Story?"
