Here's this week's selection of some of the most interesting new products that have been launched of late.

EPCOS ERU33 high-current choke family uses a new alloy powder core material that exhibits a softer saturation characteristic.

Compact Chokes Use Upgraded Core Material for Higher Currents

TDK expanded the EPCOS ERU33 high-current choke family with the higher-current ERU33M, which uses a new alloy powder core material that exhibits a softer saturation characteristic than the core material used previously. The shielded through-hole components can handle saturation currents from 55 to 120 A at +100 °C. The three new types cover inductance values from 1.4 to 7.2 µH and DC resistances as low as 0.46 mΩ to 1.2 mΩ. Flat wire winding enables the chokes to have very compact dimensions of 33 x 33 mm with a height of 11 mm or 15.3 mm, respectively.

By thermally connecting the flat coils to the electrically insulated powder alloy core, the component can be attached to a heatsink, and customized versions with other inductance values are available. The RoHS-compatible and AEC-Q200-qualified inductors can operate at temperatures from -40 to +150°C, and TDK provides the B82579X0033 sample kit for the ERU33M chokes with four of each of the three variants.
