This week marked the 37th running of the European Microwave Conference (EuMC) held in Munich, Germany from October 8-12. The largest European event devoted to microwave electronics, the conference features a mix of technical presentations on components, systems, software, and measurement techniques, serving applications in automotive, defense, instrumentation, medical, radar, and telecommunications systems.

The exhibition side of the event boasts a long list of high-frequency companies well represented by software, hardware, and test-equipment suppliers. The list includes US, European, and Far Eastern companies, with such notable names as Aeroflex, Agilent Technologies, Analog Devices, Emerson & Cuming, Anaren Microwave, Anritsu, Rogers, Rohde & Schwarz, and TriQuint Semiconductor. Many of these firms made major announcements during the week, some of those featured in this week's newsletter. If anything, the strong showing at the 37th EuMC signals the health of the high-frequency industry both here and in Europe, hopefully with continued good fortune throughout the remainder of this year into next year.
