Harris Corp.Has received a $19.9-million order from the US Army for Falcon II AN/VRC-104(V)(3) radio systems. Those systems are intended to provide high-frequency communications in multiple variants of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles (MRAPs). The integrated AN/VRC-104 includes the Falcon II AN/PRC-150(C) high-frequency tactical radio.
Ceralink
Has been selected by NASA for a $100,000 SBIR Phase I award to develop high-performance polymer matrix composites (PMCs) at lower cost using microwave technology. Ceralink's research program is intended to explore lower-cost PMCs through the development of discontinuous fiber reinforced polymer composites with an in-situ-grown, carbon-nanotube 3D network.
ViaSat
Has received a contract, valuing in the range of $40 million, to provide Ka-band transmit/receive modules to Thales Alenia Space for the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation. Thales Alenia is building the next set of 66 Iridium low-Earth orbiting (LEO) satellites. The company plans to integrate the transmit/receive modules to build crosslinks between satellites and feeder links to Earth terminals, thereby facilitating the point-to-point routing of data over the network.
Raytheon Co.
Has produced the first group of Sband transmit/receive modules for the US Navy's Air & Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) program. The modules have been thoroughly tested and have met or exceeded all AMDR performance and reliability requirements.
Ethertronics
Has announced that its Isolated Magnetic Dipole (IMD) antenna technology is enabling broadband connectivity for Samsung's new Infuse 4G smartphone. Giga-tronicsHas received a microwave components order valued at $1.5 million from a major aircraft manufacturer.
Lockheed Martin
The company's Airborne, Maritime/Fixed Station Joint Tactical Radio System (AMF JTRS) team has provided an initial Small Airborne Joint Tactical Radio for the US Air Force C-130 Systems Integration Laboratory. AMF JTRS is an encrypted Internet-protocol-enabled networking radio. Through the use of software-defined-radio (SDR) technology, it enables secure, real-time, interoperable voice, video, and data communications.
