IF Gain Block Builds On SiGe

Sept. 18, 2012
Model LTC6431-15 is an intermediate-frequency (IF) gain block from Linear Technology with broad frequency range from 20 to 1700 MHz and beyond.

Model LTC6431-15 is an intermediate-frequency (IF) gain block from Linear Technology with broad frequency range from 20 to 1700 MHz and beyond. The single-ended gain block delivers 15.5-dB power gain and has a 3.33-dB noise figure at 240 MHz. It achieves +20.6-dBm output power at 1-dB compression. It is unconditionally stable, with input and output ports matched to 50 Ω power consumption is only 90 mA from a single +5-VDC supply.

“The LTC6431-15 is Linear Technology’s first RF-style gain block, and unique in achieving GaAs-level performance using a SiGe process,” explains Erik Soule, the company’s Vice President of Signal Conditioning & High Frequency Products. “The result is outstanding AC performance, excellent repeatability, and stability over temperature, supply voltage, frequency, and output power.” The model LTC6431-15 gain block is supplied in a 4 x 4 mm QFN-24 package.
