The Lattice Semiconductor Crosslink-NX FPGA evaluation board features:

  • CrossLink-NX FPGA (LIFCL-40-9BG400C)
  • USB-B connection for device programming and inter-integrated circuit (I2C) utility
  • On-board boot flash – 128-Mb Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) flash, with Quad read feature
  • 8 input DIP switches, 4 pushbuttons, 3 status LEDs, and 14 LEDs for demo purposes
  • Multiple reference clock sources

Editor Bill Wong examines the board and the software tools available for FPGA development. It supports a range of soft core processors including RISC-V. The Propel development software allows for drag-and-drop configuration without delving into detailed FPGA circuit design.

I earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters in Computer Science from Rutgers University. I still do a bit of programming using everything from C and C++ to Rust and Ada/SPARK. I do a bit of PHP programming for Drupal websites. I have posted a few Drupal modules.

I still get a hand on software and electronic hardware. Some of this can be found on our Kit Close-Up video series. You can also see me on many of our TechXchange Talk videos. I am interested in a range of projects from robotics to artificial intelligence.
