    Resistors Handle High Power Levels

    May 14, 2013
A line of low-inductance resistors includes components in a wide range of resistance values with power ratings as high as 1 W.
    Jack Browne
    Related To: Stackpole Electronics

The RC series of resistors from Stackpole are based on axial-leaded carbon composition technology and available with 0.25, 0.50, and 1.00 W ratings. The firm claims that the resistors incorporate a dense carbon slug element that handles high-energy surges much better than metal-film-based surge resistors, and that the inductance values of the RC series resistors may be as much as 100 times lower than comparable noninductive wire-wound resistors. RC series resistors can be specified in values from 1 Ω to 22 MΩ with tolerances of 5% and 10%. P&A: from $0.080 to $0.82 each for full package quantities; lead times to 15 wks.
