NASA Counts on CSSA for Marshall’s Engineering Services

March 9, 2020
NASA has awarded a five-year engineering development contract to woman owned Cepeda Systems & Software in Huntsville, Ala.

NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) provides extensive design and engineering support for many “manned” and robotic space missions, performing development on propulsion, power, and life-support systems. Perhaps it is somewhat ironic that the space agency should turn to a company in Huntsville, Ala, Cepeda Systems & Software (CSSA), for engineering and test services to help get human- and robot-operated missions off the ground.

The help comes in the form of a contract award from NASA to CSSA worth as much as $24.5 million over five years. The contract serves Marshall’s Engineering Directorate’s Space Systems Department among other MSFC departments.

CSSA is woman-owned, economically disadvantaged, HUBZone-certified small business that began in 2001. It works with many commercial customers as well as military customers throughout the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The firm provides software and systems engineering development and process improvement services while adhering to strict ethical requirements.

The company’s software development capabilities are powered by the latest technologies and cover all phases of life-cycle monitoring and enhancement as required by NASA, including test, deployment and maintenance, using a variety of life-cycle models. Its process analysis and improvements include the use of the use of capability maturity model integration (CMMI) programs.
