SOFTWARE SERVICE

I came across your article "Matching Software To Design Needs" (May 2012). In case there is an opportunity to mention our company in a forthcoming article, we wanted to provide some related information. We do free evaluations—typically 15 days, extendable on a case-to-case basis to 30 days.

Our approach to RF and microwave design is a focused set of features, including net length matching and tools for phased array design (for RF/microwave/LTCC/thin and thick film) in an AutoCAD environment, with links to manufacturing utilities such as the Nibbler function.

We have direct links to Ansys tools like HFSS, Q3D, SiWave via creation of Visual basic scripts that run inside of these Ansys tools to re create matching native entities. We also export to CST and Microwave Studio, among others.

EDITOR'S NOTE

With regard to "Medical Applications Seek Wireless Solutions" in the July issue, the ADF7022 transceiver from Analog Devices, Inc. was one of the products named as an example of industrial-scientific-medical (ISM) bands that are part of a fast-growing area of wireless technology. While the ADF7022 covers a much narrower frequency band (868 to 869 MHz) and is only available to io-homecontrolT customers, it is an application-specific version of the standard part, the ADF7023.

The ADF7023, which is available to all customers, is a very low-power, high-performance, and highly integrated 2FSK/GFSK/OOK/MSK/GMSK transceiver. It is designed for operation in the 862 to 928 MHz and 431 to 464 MHz frequency bands, which covers the worldwide license-free ISM bands at 433, 868, and 915 MHz. It is suitable for circuit applications that operate under the European ETSI EN300-220, the North American Federal Communications Commission (FCC; Part 15), the Chinese short-range wireless regulatory standards, or other similar regional standards.

Data rates from 1 to 300 kb/s are supported. It offers industry-leading blocking resistance and receive sensitivity with very low receive and transmit currents, allowing the radio to operate in environments where interfering signals are greater than four times stronger and more than double the operating range.

While the intent of the article had been to highlight the very specific application in the article for which the ADF7022 is ideal, the standard part is equally worthy of attention for its broader frequency range.
