A wide-bandwidth oscilloscope is vowing to help engineers see the true performance of their designs on signals from 50 Mb/s to more than 40 Gb/s. The mainframe platform of the 86100D DCA-X permits engineers to make next-generation measurements that include integrated de-embedding capability. It scales from 2 ps/div to 1 s/div. The oscilloscope offers delays of 24 ns minimum with a maximum of 1000 screen diameters or 10 s (whichever is smaller). It provides time interval accuracy of 1 ps + 1.0 percent of a delta time reading or 8 ps (whichever is smaller). In jitter mode operation, time interval accuracy is 1 ps. It provides time interval resolution that is better than or equal to the (screen diameter)/(record length) or 62.5 fs (whichever is larger). The vertical system offers 16 simultaneous acquisition channels. Vertical resolution is provided by a 14-b analog-to-digital converter (to 15 b with averaging). The full-resolution channel adjusts in a 1-2-5-10 sequence for coarse- or fine-adjustment resolution from the front-panel knob. The oscilloscope can record 16 to 16384 samples in increments of 1. The modular DCA platform can be configured for optical, electrical, TDR/TDT, and S-parameter measurement capability. A new option for the 86100D, called the 86100D-SIM InfiniiSim-DCA waveform transformation toolset, allows engineers to remove the unwanted effects of fixtures and probes. It also allows them to measure a clean transmitter and simulate the signal at the output of a typical channel loss model. P&A: Starting at $21,500; four weeks.
