Russian supplier Planar LLC has designed the model OBZOR-804/1, a "virtual" vector network analyzer created for operation on a personal computer (PC). The hardware/software combination uses the processing power and display capabilities of the PC in place of a dedicated rack-mount instrument to make two-port scattering-parameter (S-parameter) measurements of magnitude and phase from 300 kHz to 8 GHz. The test instrument provides a variety of analysis capabilities in the frequency and time domains.
