The NI AWR Design Environment

NI AWR Design Environment Extends Across EDI CON USA

Sept. 11, 2017
Technical presentations and demonstrations highlight the latest features of a suite of software simulation programs.

Simulation software buffs will have more than they can handle from the many leading software suppliers at this year’s EDI CON conference and exhibition. Just from NI AWR alone, with in-booth demonstrations and three technical presentations on each of the two days of the conference, visitors will have many opportunities for time well spent.

Technical presentations include guidance on practical RF PCB design (Sept. 12, Room 110, 9 a.m.), creating small antennas (Sept. 12, Room 109, 1 p.m.), and designing a dual-band Wi-Fi multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) antenna array (Sept. 12, Room 109, 1:40 p.m.). In addition, the busy Tuesday of technical sessions will include a workshop on applying advanced load-pull techniques to develop impedance-matching networks for linear amplifiers (Room 107, 4:10 p.m.).

Wednesday’s technical presentations feature the design and analysis of a transmit/receiver (T/R) front-end module and actively scanned antenna array (Sept. 13, Room 108, 9 a.m.); a study of bit error rate (BER), error vector magnitude (EVM), adjacent-channel power ratio (ACPR); and what these parameters mean to the ultimate performance of 5G wireless communications networks (Sept. 13, Room 107, 9:40 a.m.), and how to model MIMO and beam-steering antennas for 5G systems (Sept. 13, Room 107, 10;20 a.m.).

While these presentations provide excellent guidance, it may pale compared to what is to be found at the NI AWR exhibition booth (No. 317), where many of the company’s software tools will be shown in action. Numerous computers at the booth will show the latest features of Version 13 of the popular NI AWR Design Environment.

These features include the use of Microwave Office for designing PCBs and monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), the Visual System Simulator (VSS) for designing and modeling wireless communications and radar systems, and AntSyn antenna design software for the synthesis and optimization of microwave antennas. Company representatives will be standing by to answer questions on any of the software tools, including how to address a visitor’s particular problem.
