Among the wide range of low-noise, high-frequency signal sources on display at Synergy Microwave Corp. at 2014 IMS Booths No. 704 and 705, the firm will show examples of its dielectric-resonator oscillators (DROs) and their outstanding spectral purity. One of these oscillators is model DRO100, with at least +8 dBm output power at 10 GHz. It boasts typical harmonic suppression of -40 dBc with low phase noise of -111 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier and -158 dBc/Hz offset 1 MHz from the carrier. In the time domain, the jitter is a low 35 fs. The lead-free, RoHS-compliant DRO tunes electrically with voltages from +1 to +15 VDC and offers a mechanical tuning range of ±50 MHz. Typical thermal drift is a mere 2 ppm/°C for an operating temperature range of -15 to +75°C.
