Amplifier Drives DC to 2 GHz

Sept. 4, 2013
A miniature surface-mount amplifier provides high gain and low noise figure from DC to 2 GHz.

Suitable for wideband applications from DC to 2 GHz, model RAM-6A+ is a miniature, RoHS-compliant amplifier with typical noise figure of just 1.9 dB. Based on a Darlington circuit configuration with gallium-arsenide (GaAs) semiconductor technology, the amplifier offer typical gain of 21.3 dB at 100 MHz, 19.7 dB at 1 GHz, and 17.1 dB at 2 GHz. The input and output return loss is typically 20 dB from DC to 2 GHz while the output power at 1-dB compression is typically +3.2 dBm at 500 MHz. The output third-order intercept point (OIP3) is typically +17.3 dBm at 500 MHz. The recommended operating current is 16 mA for a +3.5-VDC supply. Supplied in a miniature ceramic surface-mount package, the amplifier is rated for +13-dBm maximum input power and an operating temperature range of -54 to +100°C.
