SMP Sintermetalle Prometheus has created a new “All Mode” EMC filter featuring high-frequency stability. The filters work to reduce interference currents and voltage spikes in power-converter systems by simultaneously damping differential and common-mode noise. To accomplish this, special materials are used to create a stable inductance over a large range of the frequency spectrum.
Unlike the common ferrite, steel sheets, and nancrystalline ribbon material more commonly found in EMC filters, the All-Mode filter is created from a magnetostriction-free material, allowing them to be noiseless and 40% lighter than standard solutions. The family of products is capable of supporting currents into the thousands of amps and frequencies into the gigahertz range.
