Compact Amplifiers Drive 1 kW At 1 GHz

June 5, 2014
A line of compact LDMOS amplifiers deliver 1 kW output power at frequencies to 1 GHz.

One of the more compact families of high-power amplifiers will be on display at the 2014 IMS from Empower RF Systems (Booth No. 523). The firm’s models BBS2E3KUT, BBS2EAUT, and BBS3K4AUT4 each deliver 1000 W output power across respective frequency ranges of 20 to 500 MHz, 20 to 1000 MHz, and 500 to 1000 MHz, and each offers impressive 60-dB gain across their full frequency ranges. For example, model BBS2E4AUT employs high-power silicon LDMOS active devices to achieve its rated output levels, with forced-air cooling for long operating life. It has a built-in control and monitoring system and can be connected to the Ethernet by means of a local area network (LAN). It is packed into a compact housing measuring just 17.5 × 8.75 × 22 in.
