Producing amplifiers that perform well, and over a long period of time, has been the goal of a relative newcomer to the high-frequency industry. Triad RF Systems, formed in 2010, supplies products for commercial and military customers in such diverse applications as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and satellite-communications (satcom) systems. The firm addresses operating frequencies from 10 MHz to 14 GHz. As an example, model TA1007 operates from 500 to 2800 MHz with 5 W output power and 37-dB linear gain. It measures just 5.0 x 2.5 x 0.51 in. and draws 1.8 A at 100% duty cycle when working from a +12-VDC supply.
