Amplifier Drives 6 To 18 GHz

April 28, 2014
A GaN power amplifier module delivers 20 W output power from 6 to 18 GHz.

Solid-state amplifier module model BME69189-20 is based on gallium-nitride (GaN) device technology and suitable for applications from 6 to 18 GHz. The compact, lightweight Class AB linear module provides at least 20 W output power across the full bandwidth, with typical output power of 25 W. The gain is at least 41 dB across the full bandwidth, with typical gain of 45 dB. The gain flatness is ±4 dB when measured for 20 W output power. Second harmonics are -15 dBc or better while third harmonics are -25 dBc or better. Spurious levels are less than -60 dBc. The amplifier module, which handles operating temperatures from -40 to +55°C, is constructed to meet the environmental requirements of MIL-STD-810F. The module operates on a +28-VDC supply. It measures 6.56 × 3.50 × 0.84 in. and weighs 1.4 lbs.
